Project period: August 2026 – February 2027
Primary focus area: Arba Minch, Ethiopia

Africa In Motion (AIM) and Odds & Ends have joined forces to develop a circular fruit-processing value chain in Ethiopia. The project will explore how residual streams and unsold fruit can be transformed into marketable products, reducing food loss while creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, producers and communities.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has awarded funding for the project’s market-validation phase. During this phase, AIM and Odds & Ends will assess market demand, the availability and consistency of raw materials, potential sales channels, and the technical and financial viability of the proposed concept.

The validation will provide the evidence needed to shape a sustainable and scalable business model. Working closely with local partners and stakeholders in and around Arba Minch, the project will examine how circular fruit processing can reduce waste, generate local employment and strengthen the regional food system.

We will share updates on the project’s progress, partnerships and initial findings on this website throughout the project period.
