Femi Soewu - Board member

My name is Femi Soewu. I am the founder and Creative Director of Africa Web TV (www.africawebtv.nl). I also manage Africa Night (www.africanight.nl), which since its inception in Tilburg in 1998, is the longest running Africa-themed monthly dance party in Europe. Africa is the theme that runs through everything I do. Joining the board of Africa In Motion is a logical continuation of my work and vision for Africa. I have always believed Africa has a lot to offer to the world than the standard picture we get from the media. Africa In Motion is one of the few organisations that actively serves as a bridge between strategic partners in countries of Africa and The Netherlands. The fact that it actively seeks to utilise the expertise of the members of the African Diaspora in the socioeconomic development of their countries of origin, makes this the organisation I want to be associated with. The Making Africa Work and the Ubuntu Fund projects are of particular interest to me. Africa is a sleeping giant. Africa In Motion seems intent on waking her up so that she can reach her full potentials. I want to be part of that journey and movement. On a more personal note, when I am not busy travelling the length and breadth of Africa and Europe looking for the real, untold African stories, I am working on my Afropean project (www.afropeans.com) and adding a few lines to my unpublished book of poetry and short stories. I love biking and I am an explorer of the rich, diverse and tasty cuisines of every African country I visit.
